Costain has announced this morning that it has retained its position as a Capital Delivery partner by Welsh Water for the Asset Management Programme (AMP 5) period beginning 1st April.
The five-year Framework follows on from AMP 4 where Costain has successfully delivered the wastewater capital programme in North Wales. The company said that AMP 5 should realise an overall programme value of £60M and provide both clean and wastewater programmes fro Costain to design and build.
Andrew Wyllie, Chief Executive of Costain, said:
"We are delighted to announce that we have been retained by Welsh Water as a Capital Delivery partner. Costain is a market leader in the water sector and this award is a direct result of our strategy to focus on repeat order work with key customers."
Costain recently unveiled plans to significantly expand its consultancy and engineering design in order to offer clients the “full life cycle” of services. The new strategy, known “Choosing Costain”, was announced alongside Costain’s preliminary results for the year ended 31 December 2009 which showed a record turnover of £1.1bn, together with a record order book of £2.6bn.
The order book includes £900M of work already secured for 2010, with repeat order customers accounting for 84% of all future work. Meeting the needs of repeat order customers lies behind Costain’s decision to expand into consultancy.
