Engineering solutions provider Costain has seen its order book climb to a record £3.7 billion high according to its latest trading update ahead of its interim results for the six months ended 30 June 2015.
Costain’s order book a year ago stood at £3.2 billion and reached £3.5 billion six months ago. Over 90% of the order book comprises repeat orders, with the biggest new wins coming from joint ventures with other contractors.
The Group maintains a strong preferred bidder position of over £500 million, and tendering activity remains high. Costain's clients in the water sector includes Severn Trent Water, Southern Water, Thames Water and United Utilities.
Costain said it remains on course to deliver a result for the year in line with the Board’s expectations.
With the UK government demanding a 50% reduction in storm overflow spills by 2029, the era of reactive management is over.
