Veolia has pulled out of Thames Water's eight2O alliance which is charged with delivering the water company’s AMP6 investment programme.
Currently the eight-strong alliance comprises of five groupings - two design and build JVs consisting of Costain, Veolia and Atkins (CVA) and Skanska, MWH and Balfour Beatty (SMB), as well as a programme manager in MWH and a technology innovator in IBM, plus Thames Water as both client and partner.
The reason for the withdrawal has been cited as a change in Veolia's long-term strategy in the UK, with the group putting a ‘realignment' programme’ in place.
According to Thames Water, which has no plans to replace Veolia in eight2O, although Veolia had remained part of the early contractor involvement phase which finished on 31st March, the firm had decided not to proceed into the delivery phase of the eight2O alliance.
