Yorkshire Water extends trial compensation flow scheme

Yorkshire Water in collaboration with the Environment Agency is proposing to extend the changed compensation regime in the Loxley and Rivelin Valleys for a further trial period of two years from 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2017.

At Damflask reservoir, the existing trial has reduced the compensation flow from 36,000 cubic metres per day to 28,000 cubic metres per day above the normal reservoir control line and from 26,000 cubic metres per day to 18,000 cubic metres per day below the normal reservoir control line.

At Rivelin, the existing trial has increased the compensation flow from 2,300 cubic metres per day to 10,300 cubic metres per day. The compensation water is released from Damflask Reservoir into the River Loxley at Storrs Bridge, Sheffield. Compensation water is released from Rivelin Depositing Pond into the River Rivelin.

There are no downstream licensed abstractors.

The trial is being re-advertised to extend the existing compensation flow trial and allow time to modify the legal compensation flow arrangements to permit a permanent change to the compensation flow.
