The installation of a major new pipeline by South East Water that will pump 4.3 million litres of extra water into the Eastbourne area when complete is reaching the critical final stages of construction.
Since July 2014, South East Water has been installing the new water main through the residential streets of Wannock and Willingdon with more than 900 metres of the new 1.3km pipeline now in the ground.
Chris Love, South East Water Delivery Manager, said population growth in Eastbourne meant the company needed to pump more water into the area.
When completed, the new pipeline, which forms part of Severn Trent’s five year AMP5 programme, will pump an extra 4.3 million litres of water a day into the Eastbourne area
Construction began in 24 July 2014 and is due to complete in April 2015, with the final total amount of 1.3km of pipeline to be installed.
