Cost management firm Great Annual Savings Group (GAS) is predicting that businesses could shave thousands of pounds off their utility bills – and urging businesses to start planning now for the most radical changes in the water industry for a generation with the opening of the retail market to competition in April next year.

The Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership is today launching a Water Management Plan in the House of Commons setting out its strategy for water management, including flood reduction and water supply, up till 2040.

Devon Estuary Project PondTorridge and North Devon Councils have established a new Water Quality task team to monitor and improve the water quality of the Taw and Torridge Estuary.

Almost six hundred million pounds is the sum of money needed to set-up metaldehyde (slug pellet) treatment for drinking water in the East of England, according to Anglian Water. The company estimates it would also cost an additional £17million every year to run – amounting to a 21 per cent increase in customer bills.

Water for sustainable growth will be at the top of the agenda when world leaders, development professionals and water experts gather in Stockholm from 28 August to 2 September for Stockholm Water Week.
