The Mediterranean Network of Basin Organisations (MNBO) is holding a high-level conference in Paris next month to explore how hydro-diplomacy can be pursued in the Jordan Basin to secure good quality sufficient water for future generations in the Middle East and foster a culture of water for peace in the region.

The official Action Day for Water of the COP22 in Marrakech this month has highlighted the strategic importance of water in the context of climate change and proposed tangible solutions for the implementation of the Paris Agreement.

New water resilience action group starts work

Water UK has started work with the Water and Wastewater Resilience Action Group (WWRAG), set up following a recommendation from Ofwat's independent Resilience Task and Finish Group.

BSI, the business standards company, has published ISO 37101:2016, Sustainable development in communities. The standard has been developed to help city leaders set their city's sustainable development agenda.

The UK Science Minister has announced a series of research programmes from the Newton Fund worth up to £80 million to address global challenges affecting people in India, including a £8.4 million programme to improve water quality.

YARRA VALLLEY WATER FINANCIAL IPL FINDINGSAustralian water utility Yarra Valley Water, Melbourne’s largest retail water business, created AU$72.4 million of benefits for the environment, its employees and society in 2014/15, according to the first ever integrated profit and loss (IP&L) account published in the water sector.

The Welsh Assembly Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Rural Affairs, Lesley Griffiths, has announced over £2.5million funding for Glandŵr Cymru, the Canal & River Trust in Wales, to make improvements to the environment and habitat of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.
