Ofwat has issued a notice of revocation of the water supply licence and sewerage licences of Thames Water Commercial Services Ltd which takes effect from today.
On 13 October 2016 Ofwat granted a water supply licence with a retail authorisation and a restricted retail authorisation, together with a sewerage licence with a retail authorisation to Thames Water Commercial Services Ltd.
Thames Water Commercial Services has requested that Ofwat revoke the licences under Standard Licence Condition 10(2)(a) which provides for a licence revocation on the basis that the licensee has consented to the revocation;
On 17 March 2017, the Secretary of State issued a general authorisation to Ofwat to revoke water supply and sewerage licences which came into effect on 1 April 2017.
Standard Licence Condition 11 provides that in issuing a notice of revocation, Ofwat must set out the matters it relies on to justify the revocation and the date the revocation will take effect.
Ofwat has revoked Thames Water Commercial Services water supply licence and sewerage licence, relying on the fact that Thames Water Commercial Services has requested that the regulator should revoke its licence with immediate effect.
The revocation of both licences will therefore take effect on 22 March 2024.
