Thunderstorms have brought torrential rain, frequent lightning and some hail to parts of the UK this Bank Holiday weekend which saw the Environment Agency issue a number of National Severe Weather Warnings - both Amber and Yellow.
The Agency issued multiple flood warnings and alerts covering much of central England, particularly in the Birmingham area where smaller rivers reacted rapidly to torrential rain.
Some of the heaviest thunderstorms brought as much as 30 mm of rain in an hour in some places and in excess of 60 mm in 3 hours in some locations. A number of the most violent storms developed across the Midlands and North Wales through Sunday afternoon - more than a month's rainfall fell in parts of Birmingam in an hour.
