European Environment Agency says more investment needed in urban wastewater treatment plants
More investment is needed to make urban waste water treatment plants fit to meet the difficult challenges posed by the impacts of climate change, as well as the presence of antibiotics and other micro-pollutants in waste water, according to a new European Environment Agency (EEA) briefing.
80% cut needed in antibiotics entering River Thames to avoid surge in superbugs
A new study has shown that the amount of antibiotics entering the River Thames would need to be cut by as much as 80 per cent to avoid the development and spread of antibiotic-resistant ‘superbugs’.
