Hyder Consulting issues profits warning

Hyder Consulting PLC, the multi-national design and engineering consultancy, has issued a profit warning following contract and project delays in Austtralia and the Middle East.

The Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management is calling for further UK and devolved government funding to mitigate flood risk and to provide greater resilience to climate change and its anticipated flood impacts in UK.

There are now 16 severe flood warnings in place for the River Thames and in parts of Somerset with  army and navy on standby to help.

Water industry regulator Ofwat has warned that current Government proposals on the future management and transfer of private water supply pipes could result in an increase in customer water bills.

Northumbrian Water is holding an event today to enable people in Cramlington to find out more about proposals to create a novel solution to help prevent flooding in the Megstone Avenue area of the town.

A majority of the UK's infrastructure contractors are expecting workloads to increase during the next 12 months - but sound a note of caution regarding growth in the UK’s civil engineering sector.

The Government is to make an additional £100 million of new money available to help with the current floods.

London’s deepest tunnel, Thames Water’s Lee Tunnel , has been completed on time and on budget.

South Staffs Water has met with local residents from the Shobnall area and representatives of the Shobnall Traffic Action Group this week to talk about plans to replace a reservoir in the town.

South East Water’s programme to install domestic water meters will be rolled out to Farnham from Spring 2014 when more than 11,000 meters will be fitted for customers in the town and surrounding villages that do not already have one.
