A new defined benefits pension scheme is being offered to some Northumbrian Water Group employees to replace an existing final salary scheme which the company says is "no longer sustainable."

A number of leading renewable energy organisations are warning that government proposals in the consultation launched yesterday to review the Feed-in Tariffs scheme will jeopardise investment in the renewable energy sector and put thousands of jobs at risk.

NI Water has awarded a contract valued at £58 million to Cookstown based company, GO Power.  NI Water is the largest consumer of electricity in Northern Ireland and the new contract covers the company’s entire metered electricity requirements for the next two years.

Investment funds managed by Searchlight and Duke Street have acquired controlling interests in Fork Rent Limited and One Call Hire Limited - combining the businesses will create one of the UK’s largest providers of rental equipment to the construction industry.
