The EU’s Copernicus Climate Change Service is warning that “exceptional temperature anomalies” in October mean 2023 is “virtually certain” to be warmest year on record.

Europe experienced its hottest summer and second warmest year on record last year, according to the 2022 edition of the Copernicus Climate Change Service’s (C3S*) European State of the Climate (ESOTC) report.

Latest data released by the Copernicus Climate Change Service show that 2020 was Europe’s warmest year ever recorded, and seasonally winter 2019/20 and autumn 2020 were also the warmest recorded.
