The Environment Agency has awarded a contract worth nearly £3.4 million for security guard services at the Thames Barrier and associated sites to Mitie Security.
The security guard services are needed at the Thames Barrier site and Barking, Dartford Creek Barriers and KGV Dock and Gallions Flood Gates. Duties include controlling site access egress, manning security control room, patrolling and monitoring intruder and fire alarms.
A total of six companies were in the bidding for the contract.
