Wastewater treatment specialist Suprafilt has won a £608,000 contract with Severn Trent Water to install its equipment at a sewage plant.
The Rochdale-based company has been appointed to upgrade facilities at the Strongford wastewater treatment plant, near Stoke-on-Trent.
Severn Trent contractor JN Bentley awarded the contract, which is Suprafilt’s second largest ever win. In February this year it won a £2 million contract from AECOM to supply a new aeration system for United Utilities' waste water treatment works in Liverpool.
The installation includes 70,000 diffusers which will emit bubbles into the water to help clean it.
Sales director Graeme Fielden told the local press that the firm was growing its market share and was also winning business overseas in the Middle East and North Africa.
He said: “It’s great to win a big project like this, added to the other major contracts we are working on.
“It’s our biggest so far with Severn Trent and it’s great to be working with JN Bentley, who are a new customer to us.”
Suprafilt has also won further contracts with Severn Trent Water, Yorkshire Water and Scottish Water.
