London Gateway Port tenders £5.4m contract for enabling civil works at its London Gateway terminal

London Gateway Port has gone out to tender with a contract for enabling civil works as part of the construction of a new BOXBAY container handling system at its London Gateway terminal with an estimated value of £5.4 million (inc VAT).

LONDON GATEWAY PORT TERMINAL SITE

The Boxbay enabling works consist of the installation of new below ground utility ducting; new fire water pipework; new fire hydrants; and new drainage pipework along with associated access chambers.

Additionally, existing electrical services and equipment will be diverted/relocated including an existing feeder pillar; an electric vehicle charger; supplies for existing yard lighting; and other small power supply requirements.

To facilitate this, demolition and removal of existing yard areas will be required, together with excavation for the installation of the services; and the reinstatement of new yard finishes.

It is intended that the enabling works commence in April 2026 for a duration of 3 months.

Civil works required include:

  • Installation of new utility ducting and chambers
  • Removal/diversion of existing electrical supplies including feeder pillars, EV charger etc.
  • Installation of HV cabling
  • Installation of Earthworks and heavy duty pavement
  • Installation of new surface water drainage pipework
  • Installation of new fire hydrants and pipework

 

Current estimated start and end contract dates are 1 April 2026 to 1 July 2026. 

Current estimated award decision date is 27 February 2026. Initial phase of the procurement will be a Pre Qualification Questionnaire PQQ - shortlisted companies will then be invited to tender.

Deadline for submission of enquiries and for requests to participate about the tender is 12:00pm on 23 February 2026,
