The Department for Work and Pensions has awarded a contract for water safety management services with an estimated value of £1.02 million.

The appointed contractor will assist the DWP in complying with its statutory duty to manage water safety across the DWP estate and comply with all UK Health and Safety Legislation and guidance.
This includes compliance with COSHH, HSG274 and L8 ACOP in relation to the control of water systems and the risk from exposure to legionella bacteria.
The contract had an initial value of £7 million when it was first tendered. Initial contract term was set at 39 months with the option to extend by 2 further twelve month periods.
Didcot-based firm SMS Environmental Ltd has been awarded the contract, one of 11 organisations in the bidding for the work.
