Portsmouth Water has issued a Periodic Indicative Notice inviting suppliers to submit Expressions of Interest in a contract for watercourse restoration and improvements worth an estimated £4.1 million.
The water company is seeking interest from contractors to restore and improve existing watercourses affected by the new Havant Thicket Reservoir project.
The contract is being tendered in the following Lots:
Lot 1 - Watercourse restoration and improvement - Reaches over 300 metres
Lot 2 - Watercourse restoration and improvement - Reaches up to 300 metres
A combination of the following civils and environmental works will be required under both Lots:
- removal of concrete bed and banks
- replacement of headwalls
- reprofiling bed and banks
- redistribution of bed materials
- erosion protection measures
- new channel creation and backwater features
- removal of trees and coppicing
- replanting (environmental work)
- addition of wood into channels
- pond creation
- localised back excavation and reprofiling
- flood plain excavation
- removal of existing bank protection
