Southern Water is inviting suppliers and potential investors to participate in its market engagement initiative on its proposed AMP8 Smart Metering Programme with an estimated indicative value of £200 million.
The water company is in the process of finalising key components for it’s PR24 Business Case that supports its ambitions for a 2025-30 Smart Metering Programme with an indicative contract value of £200 million.
Southern Water is looking at options on how to best partner with suppliers in the market via the issue of an Request For Information to assure understanding on capabilities, delivery considerations and cost mechanisms. The utility is inviting suppliers and potential investors to contribute to the market engagement exercise to better understand market capability, to help shape a potential subsequent tender to ensure success of the programme ambitions.
Southern Water’s universal metering programme delivered among the highest meter penetrations in the UK between 2010-2015. However, many will reach end of life by 2030, the end of the five year AMP8 investment programme.
The water company’s draft business plan for AMP8 includes a proposal to replace all meters between 2025-2030 with Smart AMI meters.
