Southern Water is looking for early market engagement and feedback from the supply chain on Sustainable Drainage Solutions (SuDs) ahead of going out to tender with a contract worth an estimated £2 million in March next year.

The water company has published a Periodic Indicative Notice inviting interested suppliers to complete a questionnaire to help build an informed view of the external market and its expectations for successful and mutually beneficial contracting relationships.
Southern Water’s Pathfinder Storm Overflow Task force is targeting the following regions; Kent, East Sussex, Hampshire & Isle of Wight.
The water company’s requirements include:
- manufacture / supply & install Sustainable Drainage Solution (SuDs) equipment including providing expertise to domestic and commercial properties on best solution
- manage aftersales and warranty period of up to 3 months
Requirements for domestic properties include:
- Procure and/or manufacture 150-300lltr slow drain water butt kits that include connection with various downpipe types. The slow drain feature will allow half of the content to drain over 5+hrs and the other half available to the customer.
- Installation service of water butts and associated apparatus.
- Manage any inbound contact, aftersales and snagging that may occur within 3 months of the water butt installation.
Requirements for commercial properties include;
- The creation of a brochure detailing a range of storm water capture devices such as tanks, large water butts and planters.
- The procurement and/or manufacture of such devices.
The water company is also looking for suppliers to provide a resource to;
- Make contact with, and hold a consultation with owners of large roof area buildings.
- Offer the owner a brochure interventions including planters, tanks and larger water butts.
- Deliver these interventions to the satisfaction of the property owner and client
- Manage any inbound contact and snagging that may occur within 3 months of the water butt installation.
