Thames Water (TWUL)has gone out to tender with a contract for vocational training services, including apprenticeship management and upskilling, worth an estimated £3 million.
The water company delivers a dual-skilled apprenticeship programme in either Mechanical, Electrical and ICA for 65 apprentices across both its wholesale waste and wholesale water operations.
The current service requires a supplier to manage and deliver the TWUL ME&I apprenticeship and to complete delivery.
Thames supports 32 employees through upskilling programmes to achieve a Level 3 NVQ - the successful supplier will also be required to deliver future upskilling training. The TWUL Engineering Apprenticeship must be mapped to Trailblazer standards by 2018.
With the introduction of the new apprenticeship levy funding TWUL will be introducing upskilling and apprenticeship programmes across the business. The service provider must have the capability to support and deliver a wide range of programmes that are mapped to the new trailblazer standard.
Thames is expecting a new intake of 36 apprentices from September 2017 - the supplier will be required to support new yearly intakes.
The contract will be awarded for an initial term of 3 years with options to extend for 2 periods of 2 years and 1 period of 1 year.
