Wessex Water has awarded a design and construction contract for Phase 3 of the Frome Valley Relief Sewer (FVRS).
The purpose of the link sewer, which will join two previous stages of FVRS (2 and 4), is to facilitate projected growth in North Bristol by creating additional sewerage capacity and opportunities to manage flows between the Frome Valley Trunk Sewer Network (through central Bristol) and the FVRS network (around the north of Bristol).
Pontyclun-headquartered firm Lewis Civil Engineering Ltd has won the work, one of four companies in the bidding for the contract. The company, which also has a Bristol office, was acquired by Renew Holdings plc in August 2013.
No information has been made available on the overall value of the contract.
