Clancy Docwra and Murphy sign £multi-million AMP6 deals with Sutton & East Surrey Water

Clancy Docwra and J. Murphy & Sons Ltd have signed new £multi-million partnership deals with Sutton & East Surrey Water.

Sutton and East Surrey Water, which supplies drinking water to more than 685,000 customers across parts of east Surrey, West Sussex, west Kent and south London, has signed new deals with both contractors.

The £8 million per year programme with Clancy Docwra will see it renew and replace over 100km (62 miles) of the water firm’s underground water mains in five years, to improve its existing network of 3,500km (2,200 miles) pipelines.

Clancy Docwra will also continue to support the company’s teams to repair burst mains, and be responsible for installing water meters at customers’ homes and connecting up new housing developments to the water supply network.

Alongside this, a £6.7 million programme of work with J. Murphy & Sons Limited will see it design and build four new large pipelines. These will mean Sutton and East Surrey Water can more easily move water across its pipe network, improving its resilience to ensure customers’ taps keep flowing with top quality water.

Ian Adams, Engineering Manager at Sutton and East Surrey Water, said::

“The priorities of our customers – particularly around having a safe, reliable water supply – have been at the heart of our contract negotiations.

“Our expert staff have also played a part in shaping a new, collaborative style of contract that means we can work closely, and seamlessly, with our contractors for the common cause of giving our customers the best possible water supply service.

“We look forward to working with Clancy Docwra and J. Murphy & Sons Limited to plan and implement innovative ways of improving the water supply service we deliver 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to our customers.”
