London-headquartered firm J Murphy and Sons ltd has won a contract to provide utility protection and diversion works for Thames Water’s Tideway Tunnel.
As part of enabling works for the Thames Tideway Tunnel, Thames Water had sought the services of one or more contractors to undertake utility protection and diversion works.
J Murphy will be responsible for civils construction (relating to utilities work), co-ordination of utility company activities, the undertaking of utility company activities where acceptable, and re-instatement.
The utility contractor will act as Principal Contractor, be responsible for traffic management, and for any required temporary works design. The firm also be required to undertake detailed design of the protection and diversion works.
J Murphy and Sons ltd were one of two companies in the bidding for the contract. No details have been provided on overall contract value.
