Thames Water has awarded a security services contract for the Tideway Tunnel worth up to £50million to G4S Security Services (UK) Ltd.
The framework agreement is for the provision of access control and security services which will be undertaken across circa 24 sites from Acton in the West to Abbey Mills in the East, along the route of the Thames Tideway Tunnel.
Thames is purchasing on both its own behalf and on behalf of other contracting entities – namely,
- the Infrastructure Provider for the Tunnel, which has yet to be determined and/or a central government department or agency (who may undertake the Project)
- the Category 1 Main Works Contractors for the project.
The Access Control and Security Services that may be called off under the agreement include:
- Access control systems installation and maintenance services;
- CCTV systems and installation and maintenance services;
- Turnstile entry and exit installation and maintenance services;
- Central command and control services; and
- Man guarding services on a 24 hours a day/7 days a week/365 days a year basis each to be capable of being called-off by Cat 1 Main Works Contractor(s), the IP and/or Thames Water.
The exact value of the framework depends on the extent to which the Contracting Bodies call off contracts under the agreement during its term, but is currently valued at between £30 millon to £50 million.
Three companies were in the bidding for the contract, which will run for up to ten years and includes an extension option.
