Southern Water fined £7.1 million for sewage pollution
Southern Water has been fined £7.1 million after repeated illegal sewage pollution incidents forced the closure of beaches, harmed coastal communities, with serious failures were exposed in the company’s management of wastewater.

Southern Water appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court in Kent last week on Tuesday 22 April 2025, following an Environment Agency investigation into pollution incidents which took place between 2019 and 2021.

Walsall based JP Metal Treatments Limited has been ordered to pay more than £7,000 for making illegal discharges into the Severn Trent Water sewer network.
