Scottish Water’s one million pounds investment project to help prevent sewer flooding in Stonehouse, South Lanarkshire has been completed well ahead of schedule.
The sewer upgrade will help to alleviate flooding in the village.
Originally anticipated to take around five months for completion, the second major sewer investment project for the village began in July and involved the installation of a new sewer pipe from the car park of the Cander Centre across King Street and along part of Queen Street.
It followed the completion of a £2.5million sewer upgrade which centred on the local primary school earlier this year.
Scottish Water’s corporate affairs manager for the west, Georgina Reid said:
“The project team has worked incredibly hard to deliver this much-needed project far quicker than we had originally expected.
“This is great news for the residents and businesses of Stonehouse who will now be further protected from sewer flooding with the additional resilience brought by the newly upgraded sewer system.
Scottish Water’s alliance partner Caledonia Water Alliance successfully delivered the improvement project.
