Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, has appointed Richard Robinson as CEO of its UK and Europe region, responsible for leading its 10,000 strong team and operations across multiple transportation, infrastructure, building and industrial markets.
A Chartered Chemical Engineer, he was previously Chief Operating Officer at HS2 and has also held senior leadership roles at AECOM, BAA Heathrow, and Anglo American after his early career at ICI. Robinson will join Atkins on 4 November 2019 and will be based at the company’s European headquarters at Nova North in London.
The appointment follows Philip Hoare’s promotion to Atkins President in May. Mark Anderson, who was interim CEO of UK and Europe during the recruitment process, returns to his position as Finance Director for the region.

Recent media coverage has seen a range of conflicting reports that Canadian-headquartered owners SNC- Lavalin is considering the potential sale of Atkins - SNC-Lavalin bought UK-headquartered Atkins two years ago.
However, according to one report, SNC-Lavalin's investor relations team has issued a statement saying that the firm can say “conclusively .. we are not looking at this" and that its new strategic direction has Atkins “as a core element” as it grow Engineering Services.
