Invest NI, the regional business development agency for Northern Ireland, is to host a seminar outlining potential new business opportunities in the water and wastewater sectors.
Opportunities are emerging locally, nationally and internationally due to a number of market drivers flagged up by the Agency include:
- increase in world population
- introduction of clean water technologies in the sewage, agriculture and food industries
- increasing demand for flood defences due to climate change
- upgrading existing water systems
Invest NI said the event would offer businesses the chance to gain a better understanding of the market drivers and business opportunities within this sector, together with learning more about how to access supply chains locally, nationally and internationally. Information will also be available about the support programmes from Invest NI, InterTradeIreland, Enterprise Ireland and UKTI Water.
Speakers at the seminar include Jane Mellor, Head of Operational Procurement, NI Water, Thomas Gardiner, Head of Asset Strategy, NI Water, Tier 1 Contractor Design and Construction – Adrian Mercer, Technical Director, Veolia Water UK and Ireland and Conor King, Managing Director of Enisca.
NI Water procurement and engineering teams will also be in attendance.
The seminar, which takes place on Wednesday 28 September and is free to attend, includes a networking lunch.
