Ofwat has approved Portsmouth Water proposed scheme of charges for 2015/16 for domestic, non-household and wholesale tariffs.
The company submitted its proposed tariffs and associated Charges Schemes sent to the water industry regulator on 16 January 2015 for approval that they comply with its regulatory requirements.
Portsmouth Water submitted an early indication of the proposed charges for 2015/16 to Ofwat in October – in the Assurance Statement which accompanied the proposed charges the Board of Portsmouth said that a number of issues highlighted by Ofwat had been addressed in the latest submission.
The Assurance Statement specifically confirmed that the charges result in compliance with the three revenue caps of wholesale, household retail and non-household retail and that the costs associated with Open Water will be appropriately recovered from Portsmouth Water’s non-household customer base only.
The Board also confirmed that the differential between household measured and unmeasured projected bills is circa £31 to reflect the additional cost incurred in metering, the assessed charges are consistent with volumes of similarly measured properties and that the Watersure tariff is set equal to the average household bill. The Board said that as such, it believes the tariffs do not exhibit any undue preference or discrimination between different classes of customer.
