The Environment Agency today announced how it will use £99.6m central Government funding to reduce the risk of flooding across the Thames region for the year to March 2011.

New environmental scheme for uplands farmers

Defra has launched a new payment scheme for hill farmers who protect and look after England’s iconic uplands.

United Utilities is getting two major £400,000 flood defence projects under way. Both projects - valued at £600K and £400K respectively - are intended to prevent homes flooding with sewage during heavy rain.

Pennon Group Plc, owners of South West Water, has today issued an upbeat interim trading statement saying that financial performance since 1 October 2009 has been in line with management expectations.

Bristol Water rejects Ofwat price decision

Bristol Water has announced that it cannot accept the regulator Ofwat’s determination of price limits between 2010-2015. The Company says that it has no alternative but to ask for the issue to be referred to the Competition Commission for review.

Waste companies urged to stay within the law

United Utilities is reminding businesses to stick to agreed limits regarding trade effluent consent after a  Cheshire business was fined £15,000 for breaking the law.

KMI Water, the joint venture between Kier Construction, J Murphy and Sons Limited and Interserve Project Services, has been named as preferred bidder for a major infrastructure project in Preston valued at approximately £114m with United Utilities.
