Examining the way organisations, businesses, NGOs and governments treat sustainability, the way they develop their policies and deliver the proof of their actions, we have discovered two very important and fundamental facts.

First, very few organisations really know what their stakeholders think. They don’t fully understand the priorities that different groups of customers have, the importance of information for certain people, the way peer pressure works, the expectations that investors have.

Second, we found through detailed research that very few, in fact almost no organisations are currently communicating what they do, and how they do it as effectively as they could.

In order to help companies and organisations turn these weaknesses into strengths  - often that provide competitive advantage – IMS Consulting took a good look at the traditional way that sustainability strategies are developed, implemented and reported.  

The result is a feedback loop:
Sustainability, by its very nature, is not straightforward.  There is no finishing line, no arrival point.  Policies, actions, measurements need to be constantly questioned, improved and developed.
