A 10-month partnership project that has improved the quality of bathing water at Southend ahead of the summer season has been hailed a success by the Environment Agency.

This year’s Aquatech India  – the fifth edition- will see the launch of the Industrial Leaders Forum (ILF) in India as part of the Aquatech India conference.

A new report says that dwindling fresh water resources coupled with the rapid growth of water-intensive industries is driving the water and wastewater treatment market in Brunei, Hong Kong, Maldives and Taiwan, with “foreign market participants favoured over local service providers.”

Developing effective leadership is the number one priority for most UK organisations this year, moving up from fourth position in 2013 (74% on the Importance Index*). Reskilling the human resource (HR) function (70%) and retention and engagement (70%) are next, with global HR and talent management (68%) and talent analytics (68%) following.

The World Water Council (WWC) and World Energy Council (WEC) have announced that they have joined forces to bring the issue of the water-energy nexus to the fore in the run up to the 7th World Water Forum, to be staged in Daegu, Korea from 12 to 17 April 2015.

Leading environmental organisation WWF has unveiled its updated Water Risk Filter - a powerful new online tool which allows users to map production facilities, supply chains and commodities.

New analysis using the World Resources Institute’s water risk tool has identified eighteen of the world’s most water-stressed rivers.

Food and beverage giant Nestlé has committed to making significant cuts to its water use in Europe, reducing water consumption by 40% across its European production sites by 2020 versus 2010 levels.

Friends of the Earth has called on the Chancellor to act on climate change in his annual Budget on Wednesday, having stressed the urgency of action after the devastating floods that hit Britain this winter.
