The National Farmers Union is warning that while the UK has £20 billion of flood defence assets in place, too little is being spent on upkeep – and is calling for spending to be increased.

Government proposals which could allow the withdrawal of water abstraction licences without compensation are “extremely concerning,” the National Farmers Union (NFU) said yesterday (8 May).
