The Commons Science and Technology Committee is holding two further evidence sessions this week in its inquiry into water quality, with the chief executive of Ofwat as one of the witnesses.

Regina Finn will appear in front of the committee this afternoon (4 March) along with Ian Barker, Head of Water, Land and Biodiversity at the Environment Agency, and Nick Cartwright, Environment and Business Manager at the Agency.

Another session will be held on March 6, with Peter Gammeltoft from the European Commission the sole witness.

The sessions follow on from last week’s evidence given by representatives of the water industry and pharmaceutical industry, who thought evidence was weak for EC proposals to add 15 chemicals to the ‘priority substance’ list controlled under the Water Framework Directive.
