Hutton Energy UK Ltd has applied to the Environment Agency for an environmental permit to conduct onshore oil and gas exploratory operations at its Harlequin 3 Wellsite, on land adjacent to the A52 at Radcliffe On Trent in Nottinghamshire.
Hutton Energy is a London based E&P company founded to pursue oil and gas exploration and development opportunities in Europe.
The principals of Hutton Energy have been working together for nearly two decades and are partnered in Hutton by major shareholder Macquarie Bank. The group consists of experienced oil and gas explorers and producers who were some of the first movers in the Marcellus Shale and retain interests in nearly all of the major shale basins in North America.
Last November the group acquired Newton UK Ltd from Newton Energy Corporation - Newton UK holds four onshore UK licenses covering approximately 111,000 acres in the East Midlands.
Hutton now has leading positions in four key basins encompassing both conventional and unconventional prospects in the UK and Poland.
Following the acquisition of Newton, David Messina, MD of Hutton commented:
“The acquisition of Newton UK gives Hutton exposure to the emerging shale gas sector in the UK as well as a number of exciting conventional prospects. It has also enabled Hutton, as a licensed onshore UK Operator, to actively participate in the 14th onshore UK licensing round which closed in October. Hutton will commence drilling wells on high graded conventional prospects in 2015.”
