Thames Water has begun producing highly-combustible new renewable fuel that burns like wood chip in the form of sewage flakes.

WWF calls for halt to shale gas activity in UK

WWF has reiterated a call for a moratorium on any shale gas activity in the UK and highlighted its concerns over water contamination as Cuadrilla Resources announced the results of exploratory drilling near Blackpool.

Northern Ireland Environment Minister Alex Attwood has announced the publication of a consultation paper seeking views on new regulations.

The Office of Fair Trading has described the water and sewerage companies as having a "well-embedded risk-averse corporate culture" which is "over-reliant on regulatory guidance" in its market study released today on the treatment of organic waste in England and Wales.

The Office of Fair Trading has today issued recommendations designed to encourage increased competition and greater efficiency in the treatment of organic waste. The OFT launched the market study to examine advanced treatment of organic waste in January 2011 at the request of water regulator Ofwat.
