WICS DRAFT DETERMINATION 1The Water Industry Commission for Scotland (WICS) has published its draft determination on the prices Scottish Water will be allowed to charge customers for its upcoming 2021-27 investment programme.

The Water Industry Commission for Scotland (WICS) has today published its final determination of what Scottish Water can charge for water and sewerage services for the period 2015-21.

Alan Sutherland, Chief Executive of the Water Industry Commission for Scotland, has struck a note of caution about adopting the structures of other markets to the water sector, warning that "water is not oil, or any of the other commodities that lend themselves easily to trading on spot and futures markets."

 

Scotland's independent economic regulator of the water industry has praised Scottish Water's performance – but expressed serious concerns about funding for the current capital investment programme.
