Retail market - Ofwat revokes water and sewerage licences for two more retailers

Ofwat has revoked water and sewerage licences for two more retailers operating in the retail business sector.

The water sector regulator granted water and sewerage licences on 4 July 2019 to Water 71 Ltd and on 21 June 2018 to Utility Bidder Ltd respectively.

Both companies requested that the licences should be revoked with immediate effect - the Water 71 Ltd licence revocations took effect on 14 October 2020 and those of Utility Bidder Ltd took effect on 7 October 2020.

Neither company is listed on the Open Water website which sets out the details of water and wastewater retailers serving England and Wales.

This year to date ConservAqua Ltd, J Sainsbury PLC and Sefton Council have joined the retail market.

Three Sixty Water Ltd left the market as part of a planned exit following Business Stream's acquisition of business customers of the Kelda Group.
