Flooding and Flood Defence

The Environment Minister, John Griffiths, has approved a Welsh Government grant of over £1.3m million towards a £3 million flood alleviation scheme at Rhydyfelin, near Pontypridd.

The Enviroment Agency has sought advice from the Infrastructure Planning Commission about whether possible linked flood defence schemes for the Lower Thames could collectively become a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project.

Defra consults on SuDS flood proposals

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has launched a new consultation on its proposals for the implementation of the Sustainable Drainage Provisions in the Flood and Water Management Act.

glasgow_council_logoFollowing its recent inauguration, Scotland’s largest flood prevention scheme will now protect hundreds of homes and business on the south side of the city.

The £10 million Central Felixstowe Coast Protection Scheme designed by Mott MacDonald and constructed by VolkerStevin, is due to be completed early following a decision by the Environment Agency  to bring forward some of the second phase of funding.

Householders and communities around the UK will benefit from a dynamic new series of flood risk maps created for Halcrow.

The Environment Agency is starting work this week on the £1.2 million flood defence improvement scheme at Braunton in Devon to reduce the risk of flooding in the village.

The Environment Agency, which manages close to 6,000km of flood defences and 1,400km of sea defences, has published its flood and coastal erosion risk management progress report 2008-2011 for England.

United Utilities' £5m plans to clean-up The Glebe in Windemere go on display today.

The Mayor should use his leadership to press forward action to address the serious risk of flood damage and potential loss of life London faces if there is severe rainfall, a new report from the London Assembly says today.
