Scottish Water staff have spoken about their battle to safeguard the water supply to homes and businesses in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire after severe flooding a fortnight ago forced the shutdown of its Ballater Water Treatment Works.

NATIONAL INFRA COMMISSION SURFACE WATER FLOODING REPORT NOV 2022The National Infrastructure Commission is calling for a £12 billion investment in effective drainage measures to tackle surface water flooding in England and for water companies to play a key role in managing and investing in flood risk infrastructure.

FLOOD MANAGEMENT LEEDS 1The Environment Agency and partners have resumed natural flood management work to increase flood resilience across the Aire catchment in Leeds - the next tree planting season is set to begin with an ambitious target of over 100,000 trees to be planted between October 2022 and March 2023.

ENV AGENCY LEIGH FLOOD STORAGE AREA  IN OPERATION 1The Environment Agency is progressing work on the £21.5 million scheme to increase capacity of the Leigh Flood Storage Area (FSA) in the Medway catchment by 24% to over 7 million cubic metres.

FLOODED ROAD  CAR EAA comprehensive flooding contingency plan has been launched for Northwich, led by Cheshire West and Chester Council as the Lead Local Flood Authority working in partnership with the Environment Agency and United Utilities.

FORESTRY GUIDE - woodland natural flood managementA new United Kingdom-wide guide outlining how forests and woodlands can reduce the damaging effects and financial impact of flooding has been published today by the Forestry Commission, Natural Resources Wales, Scottish Forestry and Northern Ireland Forest Service.
