Northern Ireland Water is currently completing the detailed design of a major flood alleviation project for the Greystown/Malone area of Belfast.
The project is being carried out to help resolve ongoing internal and external flooding issues within the area. The scheme will involve the upgrading of the existing combined sewer and the Rivers Agency culvert from Upper Malone Road to Finnis Close.
As part of the preparations for the scheme, NI Water is holding an information event on 1st February to enable stakeholders to find out more about the overall project and discuss the proposed construction works.
The project is being carried out in collaboration with the Rivers Agency and when complete will reduce the risk of ‘out of sewer’ flooding and environmental pollution in the area.
NI Water is currently anticipating that the project will go to tender in Spring 2017. The utility will issue further information once the timescales have been finalised.
