The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Office National de l’électricité et de l’eau potable (ONEE) have signed a €75 million finance contract  to increase the capacity of the water production and distribution and sanitation networks in Morocco.

The European Investment Bank, Europe’s long-term lending institution, has approved more than €17 billion of new loans which include support for investment in water infrastructure and renewable energy.

A new analysis by consultants Arthur D Little on the cost to serve per customer in the utilities sector – specifically the gas and power markets – has highlighted some key issues of interest to the UK water sector, particularly in the run-up to the opening of the competitive marketplace in 2017.

The Government Legal Department (GLD) has announced the successful completion of the £4.3 billion contract for the Thames Tideway Tunnel, describing the government support package for the Tunnel as designed “to remove project risks that private sector investors would not have been prepared to take.”

Fitch Ratings agency has assigned Bazalgette Tunnel Limited's initial £1 billion revolving credit facility (RCF) a 'BBB+' rating and assessed the Outlook as Stable.

Europe’s long-term lending institution, the European Investment Bank (EIB), has agreed to provide £100 million to improve water supply and waste water treatment in the Southern Water region.

The Consumer Council for Water (CCWater) is warning that the cost of the Thames Tideway Tunnel scheme to Thames Water’s 5.3 million waste water customers must be kept to an absolute minimum.

Ofwat has issued  further information on the funding package for the Tideway Tunnel in response to a request for information received under the Environmental Information Regulations.

A report from the London Assembly is warning that London’s economy is at significant risk from extreme world weather and is calling for urgent action to be taken to address the issue.

Fitch Ratings agency has said it expects Southern Water to achieve capex and operating expenditure outperformance of around £63 million over AMP6 with its affirmation of the firm’s debt-raising vehicle Southern Water (Finance) Ltd's senior secured ratings for its class A debt at 'A-' and its class B debt at 'BBB', with the Outlooks for both as Stable.
