One of the UK’s leading civil engineering associations has called for long-term funding for infrastructure following this morning’s announcement that the Government is to provide additional money to fix weather-damaged roads.

Anglian Water has become the first in the sector to achieve the Carbon Trust’s new water standard  and also the first company in the world to be certified by considering the water it supplies to others.

The Government has announced that an extra £140 million is being made available to help repair roads hit by weather damage in the recent floods.

Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Rt Hon Danny Alexander and Communities Secretary, Rt Hon Eric Pickles have announced a £27.7 million package to create jobs and apprenticeships in coastal towns across the country, including areas affected by the recent floods, as part of the UK government’s long-term economic plan.

Leading global water technology company Xylem Inc. has reported that its solutions helped to reduce the energy consumption of a wastewater treatment plant in Italy by 65%.

Xylem appoints new Chief Executive Officer

Leading global water technology company Xylem has announced that Patrick Decker has been named President and Chief Executive Officer.

A new report from the European Environment Agency has proposed a method for mapping Europe’s 'green infrastructure'  - natural areas which often fulfil important yet unseen functions, including flood prevention.

A new £20 million three-year programme that will support research to develop new low carbon manufacturing processes and technologies, low carbon cities and offshore renewables in the UK and China was agreed yesterday.

Ricardo-AEA has been commissioned by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy to provide analysis and evaluation of the measures planned, proposed or legally defined by EU Member States to implement Article 7 of the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED).

Balfour Beatty has seen a 12% reduction in revenues in its UK construction divison, together with a £60 million profits shortfall, according to its latest financial results.
