United Utilities tenders £220m metering contract

 

United Utilities has gone out to tender with a £220 million five year metering contract for the installation and maintenance of domestic and commercial water meters.

The firm will award framework agreements and / or contracts of up to 129 months duration, on the basis of an initial 69 month term plus an optional extension of a further 60 months.

The scope of the contract will include work classified as regulated and some minor unregulated work for the installation and maintenance of UUW revenue water meters, including:

  • free meter option meter installation
  • reactive meter exchange
  • proactive meter exchange
  • chamber repairs
  • meter removals
  • meter relocation and rightsizing

The estimated annual volume of activity is around 153,000 individual jobs and the successful contractor will manage the supply of water meters and materials available through a separate United UUW framework Agreement.

The following volumes for the remainder of AMP5 are anticipated average volumes from anticipated contract start date to April 2015:

  • Free Meter Option - 23,200
  • Meter Maintenance (Domestic) - 13,800
  • Meter Maintenance (Commercial) - 5,600
  • Other Maintenance - 2,000

The following volumes for AMP6 are anticipated average annual volumes through to April 2020(dependent upon conclusion of PR14);

  • Free Meter Option - 54,400
  • Meter Maintenance (Domestic) - 71,800
  • Meter Maintenance (Commercial) - 22,900
  • Other Maintenance - 4,000
