Thames Water is inviting interested suppliers to register for a webinar covering its future smart metering programme for AMP8 and beyond it is holding at 1.30 pm on 19 October 2026.

The water company says this will be an opportunity for interested suppliers to hear directly from Thames Water's senior leadership team about the future procurement strategy for one of the UK's largest smart metering programmes.

Covering the remainder of AMP8 and beyond, the session will provide insight into Thames Water's vision, planned market approach, procurement structure, and the significant opportunities available to suppliers seeking to support the delivery of long-term customer, operational and environmental outcomes.

Executives will discuss the rationale behind the go-to-market strategy and how it is designed to foster innovation, collaboration, and long-term value across the smart metering ecosystem.

Current estimated start and end contract dates are 1 April 2028 to 1 April 2035 with a further possible extension option up to 31 March 2050. Estimated publication date of a formal tender notice is currently 2 November 2027.

Once Thames Water has received a request to attend suppliers will receive the webinar invitation in due course.
