United Utilities has terminated the procurement of an AMP8 contract for a Mechanical Services framework which had an estimated value of £57.6 million (inc VAT) when it first went out to tender at the beginning of March this year.

Scope of the framework covers Mechanical Services for the purposes of maintenance activities on assets and installations - the contract was tendered in the following Lots:
- Lot 1 Repairs and Machining (including Welding) - £28.8 million including VAT
- Lot 2 Fabrication and Installation - £10.08 million including VAT
- Lot 3 Gearbox Repair - £4.32 million including VAT
- Lot 4 Overhaul, Screens and Handling Equipment Repair - £12.24 million including VAT
- Lot 5 Overhaul and Supply of Fabricated Parts - £2.16 million including VAT
Current estimated start and end dates specified for the contract were 7 September 2026 to 7 September 2028 with further possible extension options up to 7 September 2032.
The initial deadline for submission of enquiries about the tender was 20 March 2026, with a tender submission deadline of 10 April 2026. On 10 April the deadlines were subsequently both extended to 15 April 2026.
However, on 27 April United Utilities published a procurement termination notice for an unawarded contract stating that the contract would not be signed.
Date of the decision not to award the contract was 23 April – the reason provided for not signing the contract was “material change to selection criteria.”
