Southern Water has gone out to tender with an AMP8 Sustainable Drainage and Habitat Restoration Framework worth an estimated £1.56 billion (inc VAT).

The contract is being tendered in the following Lots:
Lot 1: Land Management
Catchment and Nature Based Solutions including land management and pollution management advice, surveys, design, delivery and optioneering. To include outreach and education campaign services in the community such as schools and stakeholder groups.
Lot 2A: Biodiversity Improvement and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) - BNG Project Work
Catchment, green infrastructure and Nature Based Solutions for biodiversity improvement including Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) advice, surveys, metrics, design, delivery, long term assessment monitoring, administrative agreements, maintenance and optioneering. To include outreach and education campaign services in the community such as schools and stakeholder groups.
Lot 2B: Biodiversity Improvement and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) - Purchase of BNG Units
This covers Biodiversity Improvement and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) - Purchase of BNG Units.
Lot 3: SuDS: Sustainable Drainage Systems
Catchment, green infrastructure and Nature Based Solutions including Sustainable Drainage (SuDS) advice, design, delivery and optioneering. To include outreach and education campaign services in the community such as schools and stakeholder groups.
Lot 4: Habitat Restoration
Habitat Restoration including terrestrial and river restoration scheme design, assessments, delivery, ongoing management and optioneering. To include outreach and education campaign services in the community such as schools and stakeholder groups.
Lot 5: Environmental Monitoring
Environmental monitoring and modelling to include field work, citizen science, data sharing, analysis and project reporting.
Current estimated start and end contract dates are 24 June 2026 to 23 June 2031 with a further possible extension option to 23 June 2034. Southern Water is expected to annouce the award decision date in June 2026.
Deadline for submission of enquiries about the framework is 4:00pm on 20 February 2026 and the tender submission deadline is 4:00pm on 4 March 2026.
