London Gateway tenders £72 million construction contract for Berth 5 at London Gateway Port

London Gateway (LGW) has gone out to tender with a major construction contract for Berth 5 at London Gateway Port with an estimated value of £72 million, including VAT.

LONDON GATEWAY PORT

LGW is planning to develop a container storage yard at Berth 5 of the Port to construct 10 automated stacking crane (ASC) modules at DP World’s deep-sea port on the Thames in Thurrock.

The works, which will be split between works designed by the client and works to be designed by the contractor, include:

Civil and Structure Works (employer designed)

  • ASC rails, foundations and cable matt
  • ASC buffer foundations and buffers
  • Container plinths
  • Reefer plinths and frames
  • All tie-ins with the Berth 5 quay works, the Berth 4 works and other adjacent works.
  • Surface water and hazardous drainage and associated pits
  • HV, LV and communications conduits and associated pits
  • Potable and fire water mains and associated pits and valves
  • Fencing and gates and associated controls
  • Kerbs, ductwork, metalwork and specialist infrastructure to the landside and waterside interchange areas
  • All tie-ins between the port access road and adjacent works

 

Electrical Works (Design and Construct)

  • Cabling works
  • Installation of electrical control and protection systems
  • Berth 5 ASC / Reefer substations including all switchgear and transformers
  • 11kV electrical power installations to ASC cranes
  • 11kV electrical power installations to Reefer
  • SCADA control and monitoring systems
  • LV electrical distribution and installation works including lighting network
  • Installation of electrical control and protection systems

 

Current estimated contract dates are 1 December 2025 to 30 June 2027

Deadline to submit enquiries and also for requests to participate is 16 June 2025.

The procurement process, which is being conducted via DP World’s Oracle Supplier portal, will begin with a PQQ first then shortlisted tenderers will be invited to tender.
