United Utilities has launched a pre-market engagement exercise seeking supply chain input ahead of going out to tender for an upcoming framework contract for Tertiary Solids Removal (TSR) Plants with an estimated value of £5 million.

The water company is undertaking market engagement to understand what TSR solutions are available in the market place and is inviting interested suppliers to complete a questionnaire and provide evidence where requested.
In addition to providing organisation and contact details, the questionnaire also includes a number of more technical questions, including:
- Do you supply Tertiary Solids Removal Plants to the water industry in the UK?
- What type of TSR do you supply?
- Do you manufacture the TSR plants or just distribute them to the UK market?
- Are these TSR plants DFMA or % off site manufactured / assembled?
- Where are the TSR plants manufactured?
- Are the TSR plants constructed of sustainable or low carbon materials, or are they manufactured using sustainable methods?
- What are the key materials used in the manufacturing process?
- Are the TSR plants standardised or bespoke?
- Are the TSR plants modular?
- Is the TSR plant a complete solution or does it require other key component parts/assets to be operational for example, additional tanks outside of your normal scope of supply?
- What is the lead time for delivery to site (Northwest England) for these TSR plants?
- What is the required maintenance for the TSR plant, and can this only be completed by the OEM?
Interested suppliers who complete the questionnaire may also be contacted by a member of the commercial team for further information if required.
Current estimated start and end contract dates are 1 August 2025 to 1 August 2035 with an estimated publication date of 29 July 2025 for a formal tender notice.
